Route
For a 7-day-trip the best option is to rent a car and take the Ring Road, which is 830 miles/1,400 km long. This road is of an exellecnt quality and you can easily use any passenger car on it. However, if you want to go off the road from time to time (and it's really worth doing) you'd better have a 4x4 Jeep, since there is gravel cover in many places. Before taking off it's better to check the roads and weather conditions. Driving rules in Iceland have their specifics as well - you'd better learn them in advance.

Just in case you are interested in who wrote all this and made the pictures, we are 4 friends who decided to go together on this trip. We are from Russia, but I'll skip all the info about getting to Iceland from Moscow. Sure thing, you should fly there from some European contry, preferably Germany.
